Royal Copenhagen

Discover the world of Royal Copenhagen

For more than 240 years, Royal Copenhagen has presented timeless porcelain of the highest quality. Porcelain created through a hand-crafted tradition born in an innovative vision, which began in the late 1700s, when Royal Copenhagen creatives found inspiration from Chinese culture and brought the first hand-painted Blue Fluted pattern to life under Danish skies. With its winding chrysanthemums and potentils, the blue floral pattern marked the beginning of a proud, innovative and timeless tradition of fine porcelain – and a world of creation without limits.
With untiring enthusiasm, meticulous craftsmanship and an inherent desire to honour and reimagine its legacy, Royal Copenhagen continues to tell new tales through its porcelain creations.

Modern Table Setting is a Personal Affair

Choosing an eclectic mix of colour, pattern and style is more personal and chic than a very formal and studied setting. Mix old with new, classic with modern, plain with patterned and colour with pure white. With Royal Copenhagen dinnerware, you can lay out the past, present and future in one setting. Click here for inspiration.

Our family have a growing collection of Plates, Cups and more from Royal Copenhagen. Many of the items were wedding gifts (it's tradition for a girl to get Royal Copenhagen items for birthdays, Christmas and other events) and many of the items we purchased to complete a set. We have a set of Blue Fluted Half Lace products which are framed by a delicate lace trim, which acts as a foil for the hand-painted motif and charming snail shell on each lid. A versatile classic. It takes 1,197 brush strokes – no more, no less – to paint a Blue Fluted Half Lace dinner plate. Meticulous work and gorgeous art always went hand in hand.

Royal Copenhagen offers a breakage warranty

The breakage warranty entitles you to receive a new, similar product at no cost in return for this proof of warranty attached to the original receipt and any pieces from the broken or chipped product.

The breakage warranty applies to all Royal Copenhagen porcelain ranges available at the time of purchase (with the exception of Flora Danica), and which have been purchased in stores, like Great Danes,  that are part of the breakage warranty scheme, as well as Royal Copenhagen, Amagertorv 6, Copenhagen, Denmark, Royal Copenhagen, Store Torv 14, Aarhus, Denmark and Royal Copenhagen’s online shop at www.royalcopenhagen.com.

The breakage warranty runs for 24 months from the purchase date and covers just 1 range. The warranty does not cover continued breakages or breakages caused by gross negligence. The warranty can only be used once per item, and can only be used for the number of goods purchased e.g. if 12 plates were purchased from the above ranges, 12 replacement plates may be received.

Upgrade your life with Royal Copenhagen!  We can order anything on the site - we match all  reasonable pricing - delivery usually 1-2 weeks after order.

DANISH DESIGN READING GLASSES

Have A Look are fun, fashionable and affordable reading glasses and reading sunglasses. We believe that your style should be sharp even if your vision isn't! Available in strengths ranging from +1 to +3, all our glasses are made to suit both men and women.

Our collection of Danish design reading glasses and reading sunglasses is inspired by the latest trends in the world of fashion and interior design. The glasses fit neatly, with a durable poly-carbonate frame, comfortable flex hinges and aspherical acrylic lenses, crating a light, slender and elegant look, even for lenses of higher strength. All metal components are of course nickel-free.

Your Have A Look reading glasses and reading sunglasses come in a wool felt case so you can take good care of them. Free wool felt case (worth£5) with each pair of glasses.

OLDER, WISER - BUT WITH WEAKER SIGHT

If you're starting to wonder who shrank the letters in your reading material, you've probably got presbyopia. This is simply a term for age-related vision and means your ability to focus at short distances is weakened over the years. But all you need to beat presbyopia is a good pair of reading glasses to get everything back into focus.

A WIDE AND VARIED SELECTION

We have exclusively designed, sensibly priced reading glasses to suit all tastes and every shape of face. Your lens strength depends on your age and vision, but what your glasses look like depends on who you are. Follow your heart and your mood when you're shopping eye-wear online. It's cheap and easy to buy reading glasses online - so have a little fun!

Eva Solo Knives

EVA SOLO Knives - Celebrating 100 years of Great Danish Design

Established in Copenhagen at the beginning of the 20th Century, Eva Solo has evolved into one of the finest producers of truly stunning table and kitchenware across Europe. And for Eva Solo great design is everything - although it’s not just about outward appearances. A combination of aesthetics, functionality and choice of materials make Eva Solo products stand-out on the table and prove a joy to use and own.
The Nordic kitchen knives have been developed and designed according to Japanese knife-making traditions.
The blades are made of Japanese Damascus steel (AUS 10) and comprises 67 layers. In addition, the blade edge has a Japanese angle of 13-15° on each side. In combination, these features ensure maximum sharpness without compromising on flexibility. The narrow spine makes it easy to cut through foods, although it should not be used on frozen foods or bones. The handle is shaped according to the handâs anatomy. The bolster is designed so that you can rest your thumb on it, allowing you to apply optimum pressure and for greater precision. The spine of the blade is rounded. The knives are extremely durable with a hardness of 60 HRC.
  • Utility Knife £98.95

The paring / utility knife provides full control when cutting and chopping herbs and small vegetables. Its sharp blade cuts perfectly, which makes working in the kitchen easy and safe as you can slice and chop with great precision. Thanks to the shape of the handle, the knife sits firmly and safely in your hand, whether you are using a cutting board or peeling fruit or vegetables.Dimensions:L200 x W30 x H20

    Vegetable Knife £139.95

The vegetable knife is specially developed for chopping and slicing even hard vegetables. Its sharp blade cuts perfectly, which makes working in the kitchen easy and safe as you can slice, dice and cut julienne sticks with great precision. Thanks to the shape of the handle, the knife sits firmly and safely in your hand when working with vegetables on a cutting board. Dimensions:L240 x W32 x H20

    Santoku knife £229.95

The Santoku knife is also known as the Asian alternative to the chef's knife. The scallops or kullens make working with the knife even easier, as meat and vegetables fall away easily from the narrow blade. This makes it particularly suitable for cutting wafer-thin slices or small cubes with great precision. Thanks to the shape of the handle, the knife always sits firmly and safely in your hand. Dimensions:L310 x W55 x H25

    Chef knife £259.95

The chef's knife is suitable for virtually all cutting tasks in the kitchen requiring razor-sharp performance, and is therefore the preferred choice of chefs. The sharpness of the blade ensures efficient slicing, carving and chopping. Thanks to the shape of the handle, the knife always sits firmly and safely in your hand. Dimensions:L330 x W55 x H25

    Bread Knife £189.95

The bread knife's long, sharp blade ensures that it only takes a few light strokes to cut beautiful slices of even freshly baked bread. As one of the most frequently used knives in the kitchen, it is particularly important that the knife is extremely sharp and hard-wearing. Thanks to the shape of the handle, the knife always sits firmly and safely in your hand. Dimensions:L365 x W36 x H25

Knife Magnet £95.95

A minimalist design and a functional mindset are the very essence of Scandinavian design, and the inspiration for the Nordic kitchen range. A kitchen series that also comprises knives and an accompanying knife magnet. Knife magnet with very strong magnets that ensure the knives hang securely and prevent the blades from being damaged. The knife magnet features a matt, black rubber finish which is easy to clean.Dimensions:L400 x W40 x H25

We picked up the Vegetable knife and just love it! It has a very nice feel, a very sharp blade and it looks lovely.  Order one or an entire set. They are something that you definitely don't need - but once you have them you won't want to live with them them.

We don't stock these items - like many from Eva Solo - but we can get them or anything from Eva Solo in short order (1-2 weeks) - so have a look on their site and let us know what you'd like. We are always buying from them and would be happy to get something in for you  to look at...

And we will price match any reasonable competitor!

Wedding Anniversary Gifts for Each Year

Gift Theme Origins for Wedding Anniversaries
Weddings are a key event in any couple's life, as they bring together friends and relatives to celebrate the happiness and joy of the couple. Wedding anniversaries are also perfect opportunities to celebrate the love of two people, commemorating the joy that they take in each other's company, despite the trials and tribulations of the marital journey.
In most cultures, the wedding anniversary is thought to be an important occasion, and it is generally celebrated in meaningful and significant ways. Couples are reminded of their marital commitment, and a lot of effort often goes into sourcing the perfect gift that will be symbolic and meaningful for one's partner, or the happy couple.

Other Themes for Anniversary Gifts – Gemstones, Colours and Flowers
Not only are anniversary years symbolised by traditional and contemporary gifts, but they often also have a flower, colour and gemstone associated with them as well. The gemstones associated with marital years 1 to 25, and then every 5th year up to the 60th anniversary, are published in the Information Manual on Gemstones by the American Gem Trade Association. In some instances, other countries have suggested a different gemstone for certain anniversary years, so those alternate gemstones are outlined in our table.
Different marital years also often have colours and flowers associated with them, however, these vary dependent on the source. Usually, however, the rose is considered to be the perfect substitute for any anniversary if a woman adores roses, and often its shade can be matched with the colour linked to the anniversary year.
We have compiled a table here that details all the traditional and contemporary themes associated with each anniversary year. There is also further information below the table to help guide you when thinking about an appropriate anniversary gift for your loved one, or for a couple.

Glerups Washing Instructions...

Glerups Washing Instructions...

The special treatment

HOW TO CLEAN AND CARE FOR YOUR GLERUPS

1. Since wool has a natural ability to self-clean, your glerups will stay fresh if you simply air them out and allow them to rest.
2. To remove stains we suggest that you gently clean on the stain with at light wet cloth and wool soap. You may have to repeat the process a few times, but make sure that you always leave the slippers to dry before starting over again.
3. Vacuum or blow your glerups clean of dust. Leather soles can be brushed and cleaned with a leather brush.
4. Rubber soles can be wiped with a wet cloth – make sure that they get some time to dry after cleaning.
5. Please be careful – natural rubber or leather soles may be slippery on wet and icy surfaces such as tile.
6. All our uppers are produced in 100% pure and natural wool and therefore you may experience colour difference from batch to batch.
7. Your glerups usually shed within the first 3-4 weeks of wear giving you a long-lasting comfortable feel for years to come. This is normal due to the natural treatment of our wool. Simply pluck the shedding fibres off and discard as desired.
